Pastor Joe Thorn has done it again. He gives a clear biblical understanding of the life of the church. He deals with the table, the pulpit and the square. When he deals with the table, he explains our need for community and the power of it. "People are not just hungry for community; they require it to truly live" (19). The reason we need community because we are made in the image of God, who dwells in community. Christians need each other in order to pursue the kingdom of God. It takes a church to raise a christian. He expounds on small groups and hospitality.
When he gets to the pulpit, he talks about the center of the church is the pulpit where people receive the Word and ordinances. The corporate worship helps us to realize this Christian journey is about God Himself. Our target in worship is God Himself. "The purpose of our worship is the glory of God" (42). In this book, you will come to realize the life of the local church.
I highly recommend this book to all.
