Lies Young Women Believe Review

Book Review:

I wish I had read this book 10 years ago when the first edition came out, it would have saved me a lot of disappointments and hurt in my teens. This is a book that every young Christian woman should have on her bookshelf and a must-read for small groups.

Nancy and Dannah have written this book for the young lady in her teens and college-age women (but it is still very relevant for those their mid-late-twenties). They tackle 25 lies many young women believe one by one and counter it with Scripture, personal stories and the testimonies of countless young women. Among the topics discussed are: lies about God, Satan, the self, sexuality, relationships, faith, sin, media, and the future.

The book was written with teens and college-age women in mind but I found that it can also apply to women in their mid and late twenties as well. As a young single woman in my mid-twenties, I could identify with several lies exposed here.

I love that it is not a self-help book, it doesn't contain a list of "dos" but rather provides Scriptural truth, loving advice, and grace to the reader. It is not "preachy" or judgmental. Reading through it, it gave me the impression of sitting on a front porch having a personal conversation with these two godly women, that's exactly how it felt, so it was really great.

I look forward to reading their other book, "Lies Women Believe" next.

I received a copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
