J. Paul Nyquist

Dr. Paul Nyquist is president of Moody Global Ministries, a higher education and media ministry founded by evangelist D. L. Moody in 1886. With his theological training, pastoral heart, and more than 30 years of ministry leadership and pastoral experience, Nyquist is leading Moody across the globe, cultures, and generations to equip people with the truth of God’s Word.

Moody’s education ministries include Moody Bible InstituteMoody Theological Seminary, and Moody Bible Institute Distance Learning, with campuses in Chicago, IL; Spokane, WA; and Plymouth, MI. Media ministries include Moody Radio andMoody Publishers.

Dr. Nyquist serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Evangelicals. Additionally, he has served on the boards of Avant Ministries, Philadelphia Biblical University, and CrossGlobal Link, and he taught as an adjunct professor at Grace University in Omaha, NE, and Phoenix Seminary in Scottsdale, AZ.

Prior to coming to Moody in 2009, Nyquist served as president and CEO of Avant, an international church planting missions agency. He was also the senior pastor of churches in Des Moines, IA, and Omaha, NE.

Nyquist graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a BS in architectural studies and he received a ThM and a PhD in systematic theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is the author of Moody Publishers’ Prepare: Living Your Faith in an Increasingly Hostile Culture and The Post-Church Christian (coauthored with his son Carson).

Paul and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for more than 30 years and have four children and five grandchildren.
